Teaching in the UK
There is a
wealth of information on available on the internet and from other
sources on the process for registering and practicing as a teacher in the
UK.
For
teachers trained within the EU, EEA and Switzerland:
Teachers
from the EU, the EEA and Switzerland enjoy the right to have their
qualifications recognised in the UK. Teachers from the EU, EEA and
Switzerland should contact the English General Teaching Council (GTC)
regarding registration. Once the registration form has been completed
the GTC will assess your qualifications and if approved will award you
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for England. Once you have been awarded
QTS and are registered with the GTC, you are free to apply for any
teaching posts.
For
teachers trained outside of the EU, EEA and Switzerland:
If you have
been trained as a teacher outside of the European Union (EU) and the
European Economic Area (EEA), you must have your qualifications assessed
before seeking to obtain a teaching post. One of the key agencies with
which you will have to deal is the National Academic Recognition
Information Centre (NARIC). It can provide comparability information for
your qualifications.
